One Voice Is Not All A Free Verse Poem By Alyssandra Edwards
Some people think it's easy,
Trying to live the life of a teenager.
But it seems they have forgotten,
The past they had already left behind.
As children we saw with innocent eyes,
But as we grew older and wiser,
We realized not everything is fair,
And not everything is as bubbly as it may seem.
Some of us travel the wrong path,
And act aggressive and threatening.
While the rest of us are the ones,
Taking the high road in life.
But why is it our whole generation,
That is branded as the generation,
That won't live up to anything,
Like we have no potential to live by?
It's almost as if one's mistake,
Defines the rest of us.
As if one person,
Is the same of many others.
Trying to live the life of a teenager.
But it seems they have forgotten,
The past they had already left behind.
As children we saw with innocent eyes,
But as we grew older and wiser,
We realized not everything is fair,
And not everything is as bubbly as it may seem.
Some of us travel the wrong path,
And act aggressive and threatening.
While the rest of us are the ones,
Taking the high road in life.
But why is it our whole generation,
That is branded as the generation,
That won't live up to anything,
Like we have no potential to live by?
It's almost as if one's mistake,
Defines the rest of us.
As if one person,
Is the same of many others.
